Shark ADVICE for Conspicuous Cliff Beach near Peaceful Bay, Denmark

Current Alerts and Warnings

Update on 22 January at 3pm

Officers from the Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions have removed the tiger shark carcass at Conspicuous Cliff Beach, near the town of Denmark.

Additional caution is recommended by the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development, as any residue from where the carcass was beached may still attract sharks to the area.

The Shire of Esperance has re-opened all beaches.

The Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development will continue coastal patrols in the Esperance area today.

Shark warning signs, installed by the Shire of Esperance, along local beaches and at both town boat ramps, remain in place to notify the public of recent shark activity.

The Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions (DBCA) has determined that the whale carcass at Trigelow Beach has decomposed significantly and been covered.

Additional caution is recommended by the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development, as any residue from the whale carcass may still attract sharks to the area.

Shark ADVICE for Southgate Dunes Beach, near Geraldton

DPIRD Fisheries Officers have this morning conducted an inspection of Southgate Dunes Beach and the whale carcass has washed out to sea on the rising sea and swell.

A Shark Advice remains in place for Southgate Dunes Beach. Additional caution is recommended by the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development as any residue from where the whale carcass was beached may still attract sharks to the area.

The City of Albany has removed the sea lion carcass from Shelley Beach, near West Cape Howe.
