The partial system outage for the Shark Monitoring Network, relating to the Scarborough Beach offshore satellite-linked receiver has now been resolved. The Shark Monitoring Network is fully operational.

Shark ADVICE for the WA Shark Monitoring Network

Update on 10 February at 11.40am

When the 5 February update was issued, there was an error because it overlooked the fact that the Shark Monitoring Network satellite-linked receiver at Ellen Cove was off-line due a technical fault, which had caused an unrelated outage on 4 February. Please note the Ellen Cove receiver was returned to service this morning and the Shark Monitoring Network is now fully operational again.

Shark ADVICE for Dalyellup Beach in the City of Bunbury

Update on 29 December at 6pm

Officers from the Department of Conservation and Attractions have successfully removed the dead dolphin from Dalyellup beach.

Beach users should continue to take caution as the residue of the carcass may continue to act as a shark attractant.

Bring your Sea Sense to the beach. 

The first step to developing your Sea Sense is checking for shark activity before you go to the beach.

Shark ADVICE for Floreat Beach and Warnbro Sound

Services to the Shark Monitoring Network satellite-linked receiver at Warnbro Sound has been achieved.

The Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development has restored the Shark Monitoring Network to full operational status.

A shark ADVICE has been issued due to a whale carcass being reported at Little Long Point west of Walpole.

Shark ADVICE for Guillotines surf break, north of Gracetown

Current Alerts and Warnings

Update on 29 November 2018 at 2.40pm

Officers from Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions have re-inspected the area between Guillotines and Gallows following the removal of a whale carcass. 

As a result of these inspections, the closure for the area will be lifted as of 6pm (1800hrs) today, 29 November 2018.

Additional caution is recommended by the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development, as any residue from where the whale carcass was beached may still attract sharks to the area.
