Parks and Wildlife Service officers from the Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions have successfully removed the whale carcass from Dunsborough Boat Ramp. 

Additional caution is recommended by the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development, as any residue from where the whale carcass was beached may still attract sharks to the area.

Officers from the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development (DPIRD) continue to monitor the level of shark sightings. 

DPIRD recommends additional caution in the Whitford Beach and Pinnaroo Point area due to continued reports of shark sightings close to shore. 

Beach users should adhere to beach closures advised by Local Government Rangers or Surf Life Saving WA. 

It is possible that the frequency and duration of the recent reported sightings may increase the likelihood of encountering a shark in this area. It is not uncommon for sharks to be off the WA coast at this time of the year.

A shark WARNING has been issued for North Lancelin Beach in Lancelin after a reported shark interaction.

The partial system outage for the Shark Monitoring Network, relating to the Warnbro Sound satellite-linked receiver has now been resolved. The Shark Monitoring Network is now operational , however the Busselton and 1.5km Scarborough satellite- linked receivers remain off-line.

Services have been restored to the Shark Warning System (tower) at Gas Bay, Margaret River. All towers are now fully operational.

Update on 17 November at 09:15am

Rottnest Island Rangers have reopened Thomson Bay, Pinky Beach, The Basin and Longreach Bay, following the relocation of the whale carcass yesterday afternoon.

Fisheries Officers from the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development (DPIRD) continue to monitor the movement and drift direction of the carcass using the attached tracking device. 

Additional caution is recommended by DPIRD in the Rottnest Island area, as any residue from the whale carcass may still attract sharks to the area.
