Shark ADVICE for West Coast Drive Beach near Binningup

Update on 26 July at 5:15 pm

Officers from the Shire of Harvey have now removed the whale carcass from West Coast Drive Beach, Binningup. 

Beach closure signs will remain in place at least until 12.00 pm on Saturday 27 July where Shire officers will review the closure.

Additional caution is recommended by the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development, as any residue from where the whale carcass was beached may still attract sharks to the area.

Shark ADVICE for South Cottesloe Beach

The Town of Cottesloe have reopened South Cottesloe Beach following the removal of the whale carcass yesterday afternoon.

Additional caution is recommended by the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development, as any residue from where the whale carcass was beached may still attract sharks to the area.

Shark ADVICE for the WA Shark Monitoring Network - Perth Metropolitan area

Scheduled maintenance of the shark monitoring receivers at North Cottesloe, City Beach and Scarborough has now been completed. These receivers are now fully operational.

The receiver located at Port Beach remains offline and will require further maintenance to restore service to this receiver.

Shark ADVICE for Avalon Point Surf Break, south of Mandurah

Officers from the City of Mandurah have inspected the area where the injured whale was located near Avalon Point Surf Break and the Dawesville Channel, south of Mandurah and have advised that it is no longer in place.

The beach has been reopened and shark warning signs have been removed by the City of Mandurah.

Additional caution is recommended by the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development.

Parks and Wildlife Service officers from the Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions have successfully removed the dolphin carcasses from Surfers Cove near Black Point in the Shire of Nannup.

Additional caution is recommended by the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development, as any residue from where the carcass was beached may still attract sharks to the area.

Shark ADVICE for Whalebone Point, east of Bremer Bay

Update on 13 July at 3:25 pm 

Parks and Wildlife Service officers from the Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions have inspected the whale which has since deceased. The carcass will remain in place at Whalebone Point, east of Bremer Bay. 

Shark warning signs are in place in the area. 

Additional caution is recommended by the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development, as the slowly decomposing whale carcass may attract sharks to the area.
