Shark ADVICE for the WA Shark Monitoring Network – Kelp Beds near Esperance

Services have been restored to the Kelp Beds Shark Monitoring Network receiver. The network is now fully operational.

Shark INCIDENT for Elephant Rock near Hamelin Bay

Update on 28 March at 4:05pm 

Parks and Wildlife Service officers from the Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions, have completed land based patrols at Elephant Rock and the surrounding area today.

DPIRD’s response to coordinating the incident at Elephant Rock, south of Hamelin Bay has now concluded.

DPIRD recommends additional caution in the Elephant Rock and Deepdene Beach area.

Shark INCIDENT for Warroora Station near Coral Bay

Update on 28 March at 4:00pm 

Fisheries officers from Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development (DPIRD) and Parks and Wildlife Service officers from the Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions, have completed land based patrols at Warroora Station and the surrounding area today.

DPIRD’s response to coordinating the incident has now concluded and we will resume routine operational patrols.

DPIRD recommends additional caution in the Warroora Station area.

Shark WARNING for Thistle Cove, Cape Le Grand National Park near Esperance

Alert level:

A shark WARNING has been issued for Thistle Cove in Cape Le Grand National Park near Esperance after an interaction with a shark was reported at 12:30pm on the 22nd March 2021.

Shark WARNING for Yallingup Mainbreak Surfing Spot near Yallingup

Update on Sunday the 21st of March at 3:15pm 

The Shire of Busselton has now re-opened Yallingup Mainbreak Surfing Spot.

The Surf Life Saving WA helicopter conducted two surveillance flights over the area between 9:30am and 11:30am this morning. 

No sharks were sighted, however there were several surfers in the area.

A large school of salmon was also observed. There have been no further shark sightings.

Shark ADVICE for Hartmans Beach near Denmark

Update on 17th March 2021 09:55am

Rangers from the City of Albany have inspected Hartmans Beach and there are no further sightings of the dolphin carcass.

It is possible that residue from the carcass will continue to act as an attractant that could lead to sharks coming close in to shore along this stretch of coast.

DPIRD Fisheries advise taking additional caution in the Hartmans Beach area.

Shark ADVICE for White Hills Beach near Mandurah

Current Alerts and Warnings

Update on 6 March at 3:20pm

Parks and Wildlife Service officers from Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions (DBCA) and Fisheries officers from Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development (DPIRD) have successfully removed the dolphin carcass from White Hills Beach.

Additional caution is recommended by DPIRD, as any residue from where the dolphin carcass was beached may still attract sharks to the area.
