Services have been restored to the West Beach Shark Monitoring Network receiver. 

Switch on your Sea Sense and stay informed of shark activity information by checking the SharkSmart website, download the SharkSmart WA app or follow @SLSWA on X (formerly Twitter). 

If you see a shark, report it to Water Police on 9442 8600.

Alert level:

A shark ADVICE has been issued for Esperance water users, due to a technical fault affecting the land-based shark warning system (tower) at Kelp Beds Beach, near Esperance.

Update of 18 October at 1:00 pm

Officers from the Shire of Capel have reopened Forrest Beach.

Additional caution is recommended by the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development, as residue from where the whale carcass was beached may still attract sharks to the area.

A shark ADVICE has been issued due to a whale carcass being reported at Hassell Beach, north of Cheynes Beach in the City of Albany.

A shark ADVICE has been issued for Rottnest Island water users, due to a partial outage in the Shark Monitoring Network at Bickley Point.

A shark ADVICE has been issued due to whale carcasses being reported at Yeagarup Beach west of Windy Harbour in the Shire of Manjimup.

A shark ADVICE has been issued due to a whale carcass being reported at Three Bears Surfing Spot near Cape Naturaliste in the City of Busselton.

A shark ADVICE has been issued for Esperance water users, due to a technical fault affecting the land-based shark warning system (tower) at Twilight Beach near Esperance.

A shark ADVICE has been issued for Rockingham water users, due to a partial outage in the Shark Monitoring Network at Garden Island.

Alert level:

A shark ADVICE has been issued for Perth metropolitan water users, due to a partial outage in the Shark Monitoring Network at 3.5 km off Trigg.
