Rottnest Island Rangers have reopened The Basin.

Additional caution is recommended by DPIRD in The Basin, Longreach Bay Beach and Pinky Beach area, as any residue from the whale carcass may attract sharks to the area.

Officers from the Town of Cottesloe have now removed the whale carcass from Grant Street Beach, in the Town of Cottesloe.

The beach has been reopened by the Town of Cottesloe.

Additional caution is recommended by the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development, as any residue from where the whale carcass was beached may attract sharks to the area.

Alert level:

A shark ADVICE has been issued due to a whale carcass being reported at Hill River, south of Jurien Bay in the Shire of Dandaragan.

Services have been restored to the land-based Shark Warning Systems (towers) at South Point and North Point.

The Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development (DPIRD) is currently assisting WA Police with a serious shark incident at Michaelmas Island in the City of Albany.

Update on 18 May at 4:20pm:

Officers from the City of Albany have now removed the whale carcass from Goode Beach.

The beach has been reopened by the City of Albany

The Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development (DPIRD) is currently involved in assisting WA Police with a serious shark bite incident at Horse Shoe Reefs north of Marjorie Bay, Rottnest Island.  Previously reported as Geordie Bay.

Officers from the City of Mandurah have now removed the whale carcass from Pyramids Beach near Dawesville in the City of Mandurah.

The beach has been reopened by the City of Mandurah.

Additional caution is recommended by the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development, as any residue from where the whale carcass was beached may attract sharks to the area.
