Shark ADVICE for Hartmans Beach near Denmark

Update on 17th March 2021 09:55am

Rangers from the City of Albany have inspected Hartmans Beach and there are no further sightings of the dolphin carcass.

It is possible that residue from the carcass will continue to act as an attractant that could lead to sharks coming close in to shore along this stretch of coast.

DPIRD Fisheries advise taking additional caution in the Hartmans Beach area.

Shark ADVICE for House Beach near Bremer Bay

A shark ADVICE has been issued due to three dolphin carcasses at House Beach in Bremer Bay in the Shire of Jerramungup.

Shark ADVICE for White Hills Beach near Mandurah

Current Alerts and Warnings

Update on 6 March at 3:20pm

Parks and Wildlife Service officers from Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions (DBCA) and Fisheries officers from Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development (DPIRD) have successfully removed the dolphin carcass from White Hills Beach.

Additional caution is recommended by DPIRD, as any residue from where the dolphin carcass was beached may still attract sharks to the area.

Shark ADVICE for the WA Shark Monitoring Network – Garden Island (north)

Shark ADVICE for the Shark Warning System at Lefthanders Surfing Spot car park near Gracetown

Services have been restored to the Shark Warning System (tower) at Lefthanders Surfing Spot car park, near Gracetown.  All towers within the SMART drumline trial area are now fully operational.

A shark ADVICE has been issued due to a confirmed shark sighting at Prawn Rock channel approximately 500 metres northwest of Denmark Surf Lifesaving Club in the town of Denmark.

Officers from the Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions (DBCA) have successfully removed the whale carcass from Torpedo Bay near Exmouth.

It is possible that residue from the carcass will continue to act as an attractant that could lead to sharks coming close in to shore along this stretch of coast.

DPIRD Fisheries advise taking additional caution in the Torpedo Bay area.

Shark ADVICE for Boullanger Island, near Jurien

Update on 9th February 2021 at 2:35pm

A Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions Regulation 44 closure notice remains in place within a 1 kilometre radius of Boullanger Island, Jurien Bay Marine Park. 

Beach access is permitted but swimming or entering the water is prohibited.

The closure will remain in place until the 16th February 2021.
