Officers from the Shire of Augusta Margaret River have reopened beaches between Gas Bay and Margaret River Mouth Beach, following yesterday’s shark bite incident at Boat Ramp Surfing Spot.  

The Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development (DPIRD) recommends additional caution in the Gnarabup and Prevelly area.

Alert level:

A shark WARNING has been issued for The Lagoon, Yallingup in the City of Busselton after a reported shark incident.  

Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development (DPIRD) are currently investigating a reported shark bite incident at Boat Ramp Surfing Spot, near Gnarabup Beach in the Shire of Augusta Margaret River.

Services have been restored to the land-based Shark Warning System (tower) at North Point, Gracetown.

Alert level:

A shark ADVICE has been issued due to a whale carcass being reported at Lancelin Beach in the Shire of Gingin.

Alert level:

A shark WARNING has been issued for Five Finger Reef, Coral Bay in the Shire of Carnarvon after a reported shark interaction.

Rangers from the City of Bunbury have advised that the whale carcass located north of Dalyellup Beach has been removed. 

Additional caution is recommended by the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development, as any residue from where the whale carcass was beached may still attract sharks to the area.

Update on 13 July 2023 at 3:25pm 

Officers from the Department of Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development (DPIRD) have inspected the area where the whale carcass was located at Flat Rock Beach and have advised that it is no longer in place.

DPIRD reccomends additional caution as residue from where the whale carcass was beached may still attract sharks to the area.

Parks and Wildlife Service officers from the Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions have successfully removed the whale carcass from Jurien Bay. 

Additional caution is recommended by the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development, as any residue from where the whale carcass was beached may still attract sharks to the area.
