The City of Busselton has re-opened beaches in Bunker Bay. 

The Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development recommends additional caution in Bunker Bay and the surrounding area.

Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development are currently investigating a possible shark bite incident at Bunker Bay in the City of Busselton. 

Update on 27th July 2020 at 3:50pm

The Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development (DPIRD) advise that the technical fault for the shark warning system located at The Womb, south of Gracetown is now resolved.

The Shark Warning System at The Womb south of Gracetown is now fully operational again.

Alert level:

A shark ADVICE has been issued due to part of a whale carcass being reported at Lights Beach in the Shire of Denmark.

Update on 14 July at 1:30pm

Rangers from the Shire of Gingin have inspected the beaches adjacent to the Seabird townsite and the remains of the whale carcass are no longer present in the area. 

Additional caution is recommended by the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development, as residue from the whale carcass may still attract sharks.

Alert level:

A shark WARNING has been issued for all metropolitan beaches in the Perth area after an increased number of reported shark detections.

• Number of white sharks tagged in WA almost double since 2017
• Decomposing whale carcasses used to boost State's shark mitigation efforts
• Tagging allows electronic monitoring of sharks and early warning to beach users 

Update on 11 June at 11:55am

Officers from the Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions have inspected the whale carcass that was washed ashore on Yeagarup Beach in the Shire of Manjimup. 

The whale carcass has almost fully decomposed with only small fragments remaining.  

Additional caution is recommended by the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development, as any residue from where the whale carcass was beached may still attract sharks to the area.
