Services have been restored to the land-based Shark Warning System (tower) at Lefthanders Car Park, south of Gracetown.

Alert level:

A shark ADVICE has been issued due to a whale carcass being reported 11 km offshore from Gantheaume Point, Broome.

Services have been restored to the Twilight Beach (south) Shark Monitoring Network receiver.

Update on 4 August at 1:15 pm

Parks and Wildlife Service officers from the Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions (DBCA) have advised that the whale carcass located at Montgomery Reef is no longer in place.

Additional caution is recommended by the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development, as residue from where the whale carcass was beached may still attract sharks to the area.
