Shark ADVICE for the SLSWA Surf Alert Module at Pyramids, near Mandurah
30 April 2026Alert level:
A shark ADVICE has been issued for Mandurah water users due to a technical fault affecting the Surf Life Saving WA (SLSWA) Surf Alert Module at Pyramids, south of Mandurah.
Situation:
- The Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development (DPIRD) advise that the SLSWA Surf Alert Module located at Pyramids, south of Mandurah is experiencing a technical fault.
- The technical fault is impacting the lights and audio.
- Restoration of the Surf Alert Module will require a maintenance crew to conduct onsite repair work, which will be completed as soon as possible.
What to do:
- Take additional caution in the Pyramids Beach area.
- Adhere to any beach closures advised by Local Government Rangers, Parks and Wildlife Service officers or SLSWA.
- Stay informed by checking for shark activity on the SharkSmart website, SharkSmart WA app or follow @SLSWA on X.
- If you see a shark, report it to Water Police on 9442 8600. All shark sighting information reported to Water Police is provided to land managers and relevant authorities and to the public on the SharkSmart website, SharkSmart WA app and @SLSWA on X.
What authorities are doing:
SLSWA is working with contractors to restore the system to full operational status as soon as possible.
