The Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development has returned to routine coastal patrols in the Tantabiddi Beach area.

Fisheries officers from the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development, and Esperance shire rangers have conducted beach patrols in the Esperance area today following a reported shark interaction with a surfer at Fourth Beach, yesterday afternoon.  

Shark warning signs, installed by the Shire of Esperance, 1km either side of BEN sign E1401 (Fourth Beach) will remain in place for at least 24 hours. 

Additional caution is recommended for all water users in this area.

Alert level:

A shark ADVICE has been issued due to a whale carcass being reported at Cliff Head, south of Dongara in the Shire of Irwin.

Services have been restored to the Warnbro Shark Monitoring Network receiver. The network is now fully operational.

​Following the weekend’s wild weather, which is continuing today, the oceans along our coastline are likely to wash up some intriguing items and we hope it’s not any of the technology used to record or monitor tagged shark activity in Western Australian waters.

Alert level:

A shark ADVICE has been issued due to a whale carcass being reported at White Point Beach in the Shire of Augusta 

Update on 7 May at 3:00pm

Officers from the Department of Biodiversity, Conversation and Attractions have inspected the area and the whale carcass is no longer in place at Eagles Nest Beach, within the Shire of Denmark.

Additional caution is recommended by the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development, as any residue from where the whale carcass was beached may still attract sharks to the area.
