Update on 7 January at 2:35pm
Officers from the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development (DPIRD) continue to monitor the level of shark sightings.
DPIRD recommends additional caution in the Whitford Beach and Pinnaroo Point area due to continued reports of shark sightings close to shore.
Beach users should adhere to beach closures advised by Local Government Rangers or Surf Life Saving WA.
It is possible that the frequency and duration of the recent reported sightings may increase the likelihood of encountering a shark in this area. It is not uncommon for sharks to be off the WA coast at this time of the year.
Switch on your Sea Sense and stay informed of shark activity information by checking the SharkSmart website, download the SharkSmart WA app or follow Surf Life Saving WA Twitter.
If you see a shark, report it to Water Police on 9442 8600.
