Beaches between Pilgramunna and Bloodwood Creek in the Cape Range National Park near Exmouth have been reopened by Parks and Wildlife Service officers from the Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions, following a shark incident on Saturday 29 April 2023. 

Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development recommend additional caution in the Cape Range National Park area.

Alert level:

A shark WARNING has been issued for Yallingup in the City of Busselton after a reported shark incident.

Following yesterday’s reported shark interaction, Emergency Management Services staff from the City of Greater Geraldton have reopened Lucys Beach. 

DPIRD recommends additional caution in the Lucys Beach, Greenough area.

Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development (DPIRD) are currently investigating a reported possible shark bite incident at Lucys Beach near Greenough in the City of Greater Geraldton.

With the Easter break and school holidays upon us, this is a fun-filled time of the year for fishing-keen families to enjoy a south coast or South-West getaway and chase western Australian salmon​ during their annual migration along our State’s coast.

Services have been restored to the Shark Monitoring Network receiver located at Meelup. The network is now fully operational.

Update on 17 March at 3:54PM

Following yesterday’s reported shark interaction, City of Albany Rangers have reopened Cheynes Beach. 

DPIRD Fisheries Officers will conclude their land-based patrols in the area at 6.00pm and will resume routine operational patrols.  

DPIRD recommends additional caution in the Cheynes Beach area.
