Services have been restored to the land-based Shark Warning System (tower) at Kelp Beds, near Esperance.

If you see a shark, report it to Water Police on 9442 8600.

Officers from the Shire of Waroona have advised that the whale carcass reported at Preston Beach is no longer in place. 

Additional caution is recommended by the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development, as residue from where the whale carcass was beached may still attract sharks to the area.

Officers from the Shire of Esperance have advised that the whale carcass reported at Salmon Beach is no longer in place.

Beaches remain closed from Fourth Beach to Salmon Beach near Esperance. 

Additional caution is recommended by the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development, as residue from where the whale carcass was beached may still attract sharks to the area.

A shark WARNING has been issued for Gnarabup Boat Ramp near Prevelly after a reported shark interaction.

Alert level:

A shark ADVICE has been issued due to a whale carcass being reported at Long Point, west of Walpole, in the Shire of Manjimup.

A shark ADVICE has been issued due to a whale carcass being reported at the southern end of White Hills Beach, south of Mandurah.

Update on 4 August at 3:30 pm

Parks and Wildlife Service officers from Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions have assessed the whale carcass in place at Pelican Point and have removed the Regulation 44 closure notice. 

Additional caution is recommended by the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development, as any residue from the beached whale carcass may still attract sharks to the area.
