Officers from the Shire of Capel have advised that the whale carcass reported at Peppermint Grove Beach is no longer in place.

Beaches remain closed in the Peppermint Grove Beach area.

Additional caution is recommended by the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development, as residue from where the whale carcass was beached may attract sharks to the area.

A shark WARNING has been issued for beaches between Busselton and Cape Naturaliste in the City of Busselton, after an increased number of reported shark sightings.

A shark ADVICE has been issued due to a whale carcass being reported at Little Long Point, west of Walpole, in the Shire of Manjimup.

A shark ADVICE has been issued for the City of Wanneroo water users, due to a technical fault affecting the Surf Life Saving WA (SLSWA) Surf Alert Module at Claytons Beach, in the City of Wanneroo.

The whale carcass, initially reported on the reef near Sandy Point Campground, has now washed up on reef south of Fourteen Mile Camp Beach, near Coral Bay.

A Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions (DBCA) Regulation 44 closure notice has been issued for the beaches between Stan’s Camp and Fourteen Mile, including The Ridge, and adjacent waters are temporarily closed for in-water activities. This closure does not apply to vessels. 

Additional caution is recommended by the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development (DPIRD) as the decomposing whale carcass and any residue may attract sharks to the Sandy Point Campground and Fourteen Mile Camp Beach areas.

A shark ADVICE has been issued for Fremantle water users due to a fault affecting the land-based shark warning system (tower) at Port Beach in the City of Fremantle.

A shark ADVICE has been issued for Gnarabup water users due to a technical fault affecting the land-based shark warning system (tower) at Gas Bay in the Shire of Augusta Margaret River.
