Following Monday’s reported shark incident, the City of Greater Geraldton have reopened beaches in the Glenfield Beach area. 

Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development recommends additional caution in the Glenfield Beach area.

The Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development (DPIRD) is currently investigating a reported shark incident at Glenfield Beach in the City of Greater Geraldton.

Services have been restored to the Busselton Jetty (end) Shark Monitoring Network receiver.

Officers from the City of Rockingham have reopened the beach near Port Kennedy Foreshore, east of Bridport Point.

Additional caution is recommended by the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development, as any residue from where the whale carcass was beached may attract sharks to the area.

Update 13 August 2026 at 4:00 pm

Parks and Wildlife Service officers from the Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions (DBCA) have advised that the whale carcass located at Eagle Bay is no longer in place.

Additional caution is recommended by the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development, as residue from where the whale carcass was beached may attract sharks to the area.

Update on 7 August at 2:20 pm

Services have been restored to the land-based Shark Warning System (tower) at West Beach near Esperance.

Alert level:

A shark WARNING has been issued for Yardie Creek in the Shire of Exmouth after a reported shark interaction.

Parks and Wildlife Service officers from the Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions have successfully removed the dolphin carcasses from the Princess Royal Harbour. 

Additional caution is recommended by the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development, as any residue from where the carcass was beached may attract sharks to the area.
