The Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development (DPIRD) is currently investigating a reported shark bite incident at Shipwreck Cove in the City of Rockingham.

Alert level:

A shark WARNING has been issued for Cheynes Beach in the City of Albany after a reported shark interaction.

Update on 17 January at 8:30 am

Parks and Wildlife Service officers from the Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions have successfully removed the dolphin carcasses from Point Matthew Beach.

The Shire of Augusta Margaret River has reopened beaches between BEN signs AU893 and AU868.

Additional caution is recommended by the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development, as any residue from where the carcass was beached may still attract sharks to the area.

Update on 13 January at 9:20 am

Officers from the City of Greater Geraldton have now removed the seal carcass from Cape Burney. 

Additional caution is recommended by the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development, as any residue from where the carcass was beached may still attract sharks to the area.
