Shark INCIDENT for Kelp Beds Beach near Esperance

Update on 13th October 2020 at 1pm

DPIRD fisheries officers will now resume routine operational patrols within the Esperance area.  

DPIRD recommends additional caution in Wylie Bay and the surrounding area.

Shark ADVICE for Lighthouse Bay near Exmouth

Update 12th October 2020 4:30pm

The Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions (DBCA) have reopened beaches from Mildura Wreck (Northwest Cape) to Mauritius Beach.

Shark ADVICE for Peppermint Grove Beach in the Shire of Capel.

Update on 12th October 2020 at 10:02am

The Shire of Capel have now reopened Peppermint Grove Beach to the public.

The whale carcass has been removed.

Additional caution is recommended by the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development, as any residue from where the whale carcass was beached may still attract sharks to the area.

Shark WARNING for Hamersley Pool and Toms Surf Break, North Beach.

Alert level:

A shark WARNING has been issued for Hamersley Pool and Toms Surf Break, in North Beach after a surfer had an interaction with what is believed to be a 1.5 metre bronze whaler shark which was reported to Water Police at 11:37am.

Update on 2 October at 8:40am

The system outage affecting the Shark Monitoring Network has now been resolved.

A partial outage is still in place for two receivers in the Scarborough area. Both the 1.5km and 2km offshore receivers are currently offline.
